Mycoplasmosis in cats, symptoms, treatment

Mycoplasmosis in cats is a disease that is not dangerous for humans. It develops in an animal due to the activity of mycoplasma pathogenic microorganism. It is present on the mucous membranes of almost 70% of healthy pets, but under the influence of various factors the microbe is activated and causes deterioration of the cat.

Symptoms of mycoplasmosis in cats

Clinically, mycoplasmosis manifests itself as the following health abnormalities:

  • Sneezing and runny nose;
  • Swelling of the paws and pectoral area;
  • coughing;
  • nasal discharge;
  • diarrhea;
  • fever;
  • pain in the region of the ribs.

Treatment of mycoplasmosis in cats

The disease is differentiated from influenza, calcevirosis, allergies, chlamydia, worm infestations and rhinotracheitis. Usually the veterinarian prescribes different means of the antibiotic group for treatment:

  1. Baytril;
  2. Wilprofen; 2;
  3. tylosin;
  4. Sumamed;
  5. Penbecs;
  6. Ofloxacin;
  7. Doxycycline;
  8. Tetracycline.

All medications are prescribed for at least 5 to 7 days, some for 10 to 14 days.

Eye lesions in mycoplasmosis in cats are treated with tetracycline ointment and drops Colbiocin, Tolbecs, etc. Nasal passages are treated with special ointments, drops, solutions. Roncoleukin, Immunophane, Ribotan and Cycloferon are prescribed as immunomodulatory therapy.

After treatment of mycoplasmosis with antibiotics, the animal should be given Carsil, Gamavit, Catazal and Lactobifadol. These remedies refer to supportive therapy, because taking antibiotics often affects the functioning of healthy organs.
