We will teach you at a glance whether you can buy a kitten or choose another one. All you have to do is pay attention to 5 points:
- Age. It is not recommended to take a kitten younger than two months. So be sure to ask the seller exactly when the kitten was born;
- Food. Ask the breeder what kind of food the kitten was given, what he ate before, what to feed him now; A litter box and scratching post. It is useful to ask the seller if the kitten is accustomed to them, or if you will have to do it yourself;
- Check the kitten’s mouth, gums and teeth, as well as the eyes and ears. There should be no discharge;
- Ask the seller if the cat is wormed/flea-treated, if it has any vaccinations. The first one should have been given at 8 - 12 weeks.
You can also ask what name the kitten is given and if he is responsive to it. If you don’t have a name yet, use our articles on choosing a name for your furry pet.
