Cat behavior after spaying

Neutering a cat is a very complex operation and requires certain rules and regulations to be followed. If the operation is done correctly, the cat’s behavior will not be affected. However, the cat’s behavior and responsiveness should be monitored for twenty-four hours after the procedure.

You should pay attention to the following aspects:

  • The cat may vomit after exposure to anesthesia, this is normal. However, intense and prolonged vomiting indicates complications;
  • Pay attention to the cat’s gait. If the cat’s gait is unsteady or there are signs of dizziness it is worth immediately consulting the veterinarian to clarify the necessary course of action;
  • It is very important to monitor the cat’s body temperature. The optimal temperature for cats is 38 degrees. You can check the temperature by touching the nose and ears, if they are hot, then the temperature has risen;
  • Within a day the cat’s behavior and reactions will stabilize and become normal. All you have to do is to keep the stitch clean. Just treat it with a special antiseptic.
